The Essentials of Tai Chi: Applications for Life
This workshop is open to all Tai Chi forms and levels of experience. Tricia Yu will guide you in exercises that enhance physical alignment, grounding, core movement and dynamic balance.
These apply to Tai Chi as well as to everything you do. In addition we will practice mind/body skills of Tai Chi: centering, staying relaxed while moving, and staying mentally and physically centered as you interact with others.
The workshop also focuses on cultivating the mind/body processes at the core of all Qi Gong practice
Tricia Yu, M.A. has taught Tai Chi and Qigong full time for over 40 years and is a certified Yang Style lineage Tai Chi instructor. Creator, Tai Chi Fundamentals Program, 1996, co-creator, ROM Dance Program 1981. A pioneer in integrating Tai Chi into medical model exercise, she collaborated with health care professionals in developing training materials, seminars and certification for both programs.
Director, Tai Chi Center, Madison WI 1974-2005, owner of Tai Chi Health training and certifying professionals nationally. She has coauthored articles for peer-reviewed journals and popular publications, presented at state and national PT, OT, ACSM and US Military Public Health conferences. She served as an expert panel member for an Intervention Protocol Development investigating Tai Chi for Patients with COPD, Osher Research Center Harvard Medical School, 2011.
