Level II Instructor
Location: Victoria, British Columbia
Gabriel has been studying Chinese martial arts since 2002. He has focused primarily on taijiquan and qigong, learning from many teachers and styles. During that time, he also earned his black belt in Shao-Lin kung fu (2009). Gabriel committed his practice to the Imperial Yang Family Tai Chi method after beginning his training with Sifu Michael Paler in 2012.
Gabriel is certified through the Tai Chi Association of Colorado Springs to teach Level I & II Beginner Tai Chi Forms in the body mechanics of the structured Yang Chen Fu large frame form with the accompanying Qigongs and Push Hands. He has completed the required hours of training per level and has passed both physical and written tests for Beginner instruction of Tai Chi Chuan.
Gabriel is a fun, gentle and enthusiastic instructor. His passion for health has deeply influenced his study of nutrition, emergency/wilderness medicine, fitness and meditation. Gabriel appreciates the martial arts for training to relax under pressure. He tries to implement this philosophy in all types of conflict, whether intra- or inter-personal.
Gabriel is working diligently towards his B.Sc. in Kinesiology, which will be completed in 2017. He hopes this education will help him apply these philosophies in his work with clients. Currently, Gabriel lives in Victoria, BC, Canada where he teaches Taijiquan (Tai Chi) and Kid’s Jiu-Jitsu.
