Once a Tai Chi practioner has become familiar and skilled in Tai Chi basics, philosophy and empty hand forms, they can then progress to Tai Chi Weapons.

Tai Chi Weapons include Tai Chi Double Edged Sword, Tai Chi Broadsword, Fan, Staff, Spear, and others. Some Tai Chi weapons are as old as the style itself spanning centuries, other Tai Chi weapons have been developed in the last century. Regardless of style or weapon, it is important that when practicing Tai Chi Weapons, just as with empty hand forms, the Tai Chi basics, theories and philosophies are used while practicing Tai Chi Weapons. This is part of an internal martial arts.
